Daily Prompt- I Want to Know What Love Is

This post is in response to the DAILY PROMPT by The Daily Post
We each have many types of love relationships — parents, children, spouses, friends. And they’re not always with people; you may love an animal, or a place. Is there a single idea or definition that runs through all the varieties of “love”?
I Want to Know What Love Is
Yeah, there’s just one and only one idea that runs through all varieties of love. It is SACRIFICE.
Sacrifice is when your parents fulfill your wishes even if they don’t have enough.
Sacrifice is when your children lie so that their parents don’t get tensed.
Sacrifice is when your friend doesn’t complete his task and help you out of your problems.
Just caring and being with each other isn’t love. LOVE is when you actually become selfless and prove your love for the other person.

THE FESTIVAL OF LOVE

holi-Celebration
HOLI, a spring festival celebrated mainly in India and some other parts of South Asia is also known as the festival of colours. On this day, friends and family celebrate and enjoy themselves by colouring each other making them look like a alien. 😀

When I was a kid, I used to be scared of those painted faced guys who came to our home to wish us holi. I screamed, shouted and locked myself into a room if I saw them by chance. My imagination was that the guys have been converted into vampires and they want me to join their vampire group. 😀
But as I grew up, my fear towards holi diminished. Nowadays, I enjoy painting each others’ face using colours and love being painted too. I also uploaded a picture of me and my friends after playing holi this year. 🙂

The Foggy Night

This is an attempt to an elegy, though not fulfilling all its conditions. Still, I tried my best to write this piece as this describes the night which I miss and long for another one.

Fog, Elegy, Metaphor

fog

We weren’t that close, yet
loved each other.
The only thing we had with us
was that one foggy night.
Soulmates were we, our hearts
knew each other.
Winter had hit the unknown city,
making the room freeze.
The hint of fog touched all over
the window pane.
I could feel his warmth
staring upon me.
Lost were we into the eyes
of each other.
When the white cold giant peeped
into our room.
Dead I was after drowning
into his eyes.
The air filled up with the fog
of our breath.
Our lips neither move,
nor our eyes.
Mine keenly closed down with
prayers in mind.
I wished for him throughout my life
as my better half.
When I felt the warm fog
on my cheeks.
The affectionate fingers
touched mine.
The gentle cuddly hug was
never like before.
I could feel the soft fog
defeating the giant one.
Our lips touched each other
under the blanket.
I opened my eyes, looked around
to find the winter disappeared.
The reality struck when I realized,
we had to soon part.

P.S. This poetry is dedicated to my soulmate who is in a long relationship with me where we haldly meet once every six months. I miss him.

Daily Prompt- An Offer I couldn’t refuse

Here’s the title of your post: “An Offer I Couldn’t Refuse.”
Set a timer for ten minutes, and write it. Go!

An Offer I Couldn’t Refuse
theproposal
Those days when we liked each other, we wanted to know each other more. We started talking 24 hours a day, loving each other’s company. And then on my birthday, he confessed his feelings for me. I wanted to refuse. I wanted our friendship to grow more. I wanted to know more about him before we commit to each other. But this was something I couldn’t refuse somehow. What if he misinterpreted my no and assumed that I wasn’t interested? What if I lose my soulmate forever. I thought for a while. I couldn’t help but say yes. He was the reason for my smile. He still is. 🙂
